May

MayWe are always pleased to have docking by as lambs seem to grow very fast and the thought of picking bigger lambs up brings tears to my eyes! Ewes and lambs remain in lambing paddocks till around the 20th of May. The flats are then shut up for silage. Ewes and lambs are spread out around the farm and set stocked.  I use cows and calves to keep excess grass under control. I look forward to the year when I have excess grass!  At the end of the month I like to have dry hogs and our sale rams shorn. Once out of their fleeces the rams have another rigorous selection and culling.
