FebruaryAs soon as possible I like to scan our ewes. We scan for singles, twins, triplets, lates and empties. I always hope to have less than 1% empty and about 1% triplets, with our scanning going up every year.  My aim is to scan around 180%. Once we scan above 180% this can result in too many triplets. Ewes are sorted into singles, twins and triplets. Lates are kept separate and empties are sold. Depending on the weather we would start feeding the triplets and twins.  If the singles are fit they enjoy the view for a little longer! I have learnt over the years it is better to feed ewes a little now and keep them fit as it's very hard to deal with very lean ewes later on in pregnancy. It also makes lambing so much easier.
